Toilets and the comfort zone
Imagine a scenario when you go to a restaurant, and before you start the meal, you take a trip to the toilet. In the toilet, you use a certain urinal / cubicle, and then have a delicious meal. After chatting over a few drinks, you get up to use the toilet again.
Did you notice that you end up using the same urinal or cubicle you used the last time? Take a moment to recollect!
Unconsciously, we tend to remember places we had been to, and things we had used. The mind registers any pleasant experience, and keeps it in the subconscious. So, next time we are around the same place as before, we recall our past experiences, and the subconscious drives us toward what we had found comfort in before.
In fact you can say that the subconscious dictates our nature. That’s why we tend to sleep on the same side of the bed that we are used to sleeping on, regardless of the bed we sleep on, or call a side of the sofa our favourite while watching TV, and so on.
If you think that this doesn't apply, next time you are at something, try to realize whether you just go about these activities 'with or without' thinking. If you let your instincts drive you, I'm pretty sure you would follow the pattern!
